我见过的最好的对管理本质的总结是：“管理的本质是传递善意和激发潜力”，都说是德鲁克讲过的，但是我没找到原话。
应该是抽象总结自下面这一段话：
The essence of management, in fact, is to stimulate and release everyone’s goodwill. Compassion for others, willingness to serve others, it is a gesture of goodwill; willing to help people improve the living environment, work environment, but also a goodwill. Managers need to do is to stimulate and release people inherent potential to create value for the well-being of others. This is the essence of management. –Peter F. Drucker
管理的本质，其实就是激发和释放每一个人的善意。对别人的同情，愿意为别人服务，这是一种善意；愿意帮人家改善生存环境、工作环境，也是一种善意。管理者要做的是激发和释放人本身固有的潜能，创造价值，为他人谋福祉。这就是管理的本质。
